A WOMAN is fighting for life in hospital after a police officer rescued her from her burning home.
The 50-year-old woman, who has not been named, was helped from her home on Harvey Court, Bolsover, north Derbyshire, by a police officer who was the first emergency worker to arrive at the scene.
He helped her out of the property for paramedics to treat her and take her to hospital.
The police officer was also treated for the effects of inhaling smoke and taken to hospital.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said the fire is not being treated as suspicious but enquiries into exactly what happened are still under way.
Firefighters were called to the scene but a spokesman said police are overseeing the incident.
