A WOMAN was cut free from her car and airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after her Peugeot 206 was in collision with a lorry on Worksop Road, at the junction of Sheffield Road. Police closed the road at 9.45am yesterday.

In Edale in the Peak District, a Sheffield man suffered a suspected ankle fracture after slipping while on a Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme expedition.

The 20-year-old was in the Upper Booth area when he fell.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members splinted his leg and gave him pain relief before carrying him on a stretcher to an ambulance.

He was then taken to the Northern General Hospital for further treatment.
