A woman was airlifted to hospital after suffering a fractured wrist in a fall while walking on Rushup Edge in the Peak District.

The 56-year-old, from Glossop, was with a party of walkers on the highest point of the ridge – Lord’s Seat, which is 546 metres high – when she fell.

Twelve members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded to the call for help and gave first aid to the casualty at the scene before she was flown to hospital for further treatment.

The incident was reported at 3.50pm on Saturday.
