A WOMAN has been charged with murder following the death of a 40-year-old South Yorkshire man.

Vee Lesley Askham, aged 32, of Markfield Drive, Flanderwell, Rotherham, was due to appear before Rotherham Magistrates' Court on Saturday morning charged with the murder of Christopher Gill. She was expected to be remanded in custody by the court.

A post mortem examination has revealed Mr Gill, also of Markfield Drive, Flanderwell, but not the same address, died from a head wound.

His body was found at his home on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old man arrested and questioned by police over the death has been released on police bail.

Police launched an inquiry at the request of Coroner Stanley Hooper.
