Woman accused of sending abusive messages to Rotherham councillor

A woman has appeared in court accused of harassing a Rotherham councillor.

Sarah Louise Wilson, aged 25, of Rotherham, is accused of sending abusive text messages and an abusive voicemail to Jayne Senior, as well as posting abusive material on the internet about her, contrary to section 2 (1) and (2) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Mrs Senior is currently a Rotherham councillor representing Valley ward.

Wilson appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court today, charged with pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of Jayne Senior and which she ‘knew or ought to have known’ amounted to the harassment of her.

Proceedings were adjourned to December 7 at the Magistrates Court.
