SIX wind turbines are being planned on a 450-acre site owned by Derbyshire’s Chatsworth Estate.
Roseland Community Energy Trust has submitted the proposals to Bolsover Council, which involve fields near Scarcliffe, which it hopes could generate an income of up to £750,000 per year.
The trust says profits would be used to support new businesses, fund university places for local children and retrain unemployed people.
John Hudson, from the trust, said: “We know many community-based groups and organisations are finding it increasingly difficult to source adequate funding and we believe income from the proposed wind farm could provide a lifeline.”
The trust hopes to receive a decision by the end of the year. If approved, construction could begin next year.
