If you go down to the woods this weekend, you’re sure...to find a great big pumpkin patch!
Cannon Hall’s annual Pumpkin Festival is back - and guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever before.
Start your Halloween-themed visit to the South Yorkshire attraction off with a trip to the Witches Wood, and then try your luck on the Trick Or Treat Treasure Trail...ooh and don’t forget to visit the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin before having a go at carving your very own spooky lantern. If there’s time, you can also make a horrifying Halloween headdress over at the craft station.
And the Cawthorne farm is encouraging visitors to its festival - which kicks off on Saturday and runs until October 31 - to dress the part, as staff will be offering spot prizes to visitors who have gone all out and made a special effort.
Best of all - City Buzz has a family ticket to give away - so you could be in with a chance of enjoying all this festival has to offer, completely free!
The ticket will admit any combination of four people and includes all the Halloween festivities - including two pumpkins (extra pumpkins can be purchased on the day at a charge of £2.50. each) - as well as admission to the farm, outdoor adventure play and indoor soft play, sheep and ferret racing, milking demos, tractor trailer rides, Shire horse talks and meerkat sessions.
Cannon Hall Farm’s marketing manager Nicky Hyde said: “Cannon Hall’s Pumpkin Festival has a loyal following and is one of the most popular weeks of the year for us - we usually gives away over 5,000 pumpkins during October half term!
“It’s your job to design the perfect spooky face for your pumpkin and we’ll carve out those toothy grins for you. Farmer Dale will also be on hand showing off some of the incredible designs that we had last year.
“We’re also going to have daily shows with our performing witches - can your family help the good witch convince the mischievous witch to behave?!”
Cannon Hall’s Bonfire Spectacular will also be returning the week after with a live DJ and spectacular fireworks on November 6, plus - of course - the bonfire which will be lit at 5pm.
If you’d like the chance to win a family ticket for four to the Pumpkin Festival - a ‘freedom ticket’ which guarantees you access any day between October 22 and 31 - simply email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me one of your family’s favourite things to do together in the region and why.
