Why can’t they just phone?

Have your say

A big thank you once again to Sheffield council for a wasted morning.

I don’t know if it’s just me or if other people are having the same problems. My son and his partner are both working, so when they need anyone to house sit for anything they always ask me .

A problem was reported and the council said a worker would be there am– that’s all you get, so I presumed 8am to noon.

I arrived in plenty of time, (7.45am), and settled down to wait for knock on the door, 8-o-clock, 9-o-clock, 10-o-clock, 11-o-clock, 12-o-clock, no sign of anybody, so decided to finish watching Frost, which finished at 1pm, still no workman, so I had stayed the allotted time span and called it a day.

This is not the first time. In less than 12 months, I have been left twiddling my thumbs on two separate occassions, by workmen not turning up when arranged, and then to add insult to injury, the cheeky sod put a note through the door saying he had been but couldn’t gain entry. You didn’t arrive on time, so the blame rests at your door mate, not mine.

There is a marvellous invention, called a mobile phone, which you can use to inform people you are running late. Simple.
