Sheffield and the South Yorkshire region has been issued with a yellow 'be aware' warning of rain, as Storm Jonas makes its away across the Atlantic and prepares to batter Britain.
The weather system, which has caused historic blizzard conditions across the east coast of the US, is expected to arrive in Britain this week.
The blizzard conditions currently hitting the US are likely to have dissipated as the weather system crosses the Atlantic, bringing heavy rain rather than snow to the UK.
A yellow “be aware warning” has been issued for the region on Tuesday and Wednesday, when heavy rain and high winds are forecast.
Winds are expected to have died down on Thursday, but the rain is expected to continue with showers forecast throughout the day.
