It seems Sheffield is in for a wet and windy couple of weeks, as the rain looks set to keep coming.
The upcoming weather in the city is looking decidedly ‘unsettled’ according to a report from Meteogroup.
A spokesman for the forecasting service told The Star: “What we’re looking at is very typical autumn weather - blustery and wet - and we’re going to see the temperatures starting to cool off a shade next week.”
According to Meteogroup, the city is in for some fairly heavy showers throughout the morning today, with between five and 10mm coming down in a short space of time - which could cause some minor local flooding issues - before drying up in the afternoon.
Tomorrow is also mostly dry before the rain makes a reappearance on Friday with more heavy pulses throughout the weekend.
The Meteogroup spokesman added: “Things are set to get pretty active and windy next week, with rainy showers continuing on and off, but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year and certainly no serious flooding issues on our radar.”
Star readers are fed up of the rain.
Isaac Walker, aged 16, of Hillsborough, said: “It’s depressing and makes me feel really miserable. I do think we had a better summer this time - Tramlines was great in the sun! - but I’ve just ordered a warmer coat as I can feel the winter coming.”
John Murphy, 83, said: “It’s terrible news we’re in for lots of rain, I’d better order a new umbrella. We’ve had a lovely summer but I am sad to hear it’s all over.”
Beverley Bradley, 48, said: “It’s been horrible weather this week hasn’t it?”
Zoe West wrote on The Star’s Facebook page: “If Tuesday was anything to go by, then I’d say Sheffield will be flooded again this winter. I thought the council had sorted the drainage problem but clearly not - bring on the snow!”
But Lynn Carnall wrote: “We’ve had a good summer so I don’t think we can complain.”
