Have your say

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the tree march in the city centre last Saturday due to painful leg ulcers, however I felt I must write to congratulate schoolboy, Shaheryar Chishty, on his excellent and very moving poem about trees (Star, November 12).

This caring 10-year-old boy has the intelligence to recognise the importance of trees and the benefits they provide within our community, so what a shame it is that our blinkered and arrogant council have failed to do the same by destroying large numbers of Sheffield’s healthy trees.

Well done Shaheryar for your well-written and thought-provoking poem which really says it all about why we need to protect our mature roadside trees from this appalling massacre so that they will survive for future generations to enjoy.
