Would Milan Mandaric and the rest of the Sheffield Wednesday board care to explain why they are welcoming back a player less than six months ago was sentenced to 18 months in jail?
If, as they say in the club statement, they now accept that Gary Madine has shown genuine remorse, will they extend the same clemency to any supporter who has been convicted of not one, not two, but three violent assaults?
I suspect that a fan would have been banned from Hillsborough for life.
Clearly, Sheffield Wednesday apply different standards when it is in their financial interests to do so.
Mandaric and his board are obviously unconcerned about the message that welcoming Madine back sends out to young Wednesday fans or to the rest of the footballing world about the depths to which their club has now sunk.
