News: Local, national and international news 24-hours a day.

PENSIONERS need better sex education because of a rise in sexually-transmitted diseases among pensioners and as they have more casual sex, a politician has claimed.

Croydon Councillor Maggie Mansell said that, with children grown up and more divorces, older people were taking on more sexual partners.

HAPPY FAMILY: A family in Norway hit the lottery jackpot for the third time in six years when a son won more than 12 million kroner (£1.2 million).

He added to the successes of his father and his sister, who had also picked seven correct numbers to win than 8 million kroner (£800,000) each in 2006 and 2010.

FEATHERED FIEND: The owner of a foul-mouthed cockatoo in Rhode Island who was fined 15 dollars (£9) for breaking a noise by-law is appealing over the ruling.

The judge said Lynne Taylor was guilty under the law that prohibits residents from letting their pets habitually howl, bark or make other noise.

A neighbour accused her bird of parroting vulgar phrases, cursing and loudly speaking expletives.
