Weekend bus strikes off after talks
FIRST buses in Sheffield will be running normally this weekend after another planned strike was called off.
Industrial action had been called by drivers' union Unite over alleged 'harsh' discipline at First's Olive Grove depot.
But an agreement was reached over disciplinary issues yesterday in talks between First South Yorkshire managing director, Bob Hamilton, and Unite bosses.
The strike was cancelled after Wednesday's announcement that a planned strike on Remembrance Sunday had been abandoned because many people would travel by bus to take part in memorial ceremonies across Sheffield.
Mr Hamilton said: "This is very positive news and we are glad all industrial action planned for this weekend has now been cancelled."
Strikes planned for next Thursday and again on Sunday November 15 are scheduled to go ahead. More talks will be held next Tuesday.
