WEATHER WARNING: Snow forecast this morning

The Met Office is warning that heavy rain this morning is likely to turn to snow in places.

Snowfall of 2 - 5cm could occur in places, with as much as 10cm on higher ground.

A Met Office spokesman said: "This will bring a risk of difficult travel conditions for the morning peak travel period including slower than normal journey times, particularly for some cross-Pennine routes. Surface water and slush may cause problems elsewhere

"The snow should ease from the south during the morning."
