The Met Office has issued a weather warning for persistent heavy rain for Sheffield.
Strong winds combined with the downpours will make conditions atrocious at times with possible disruption to transport.
The warning states: "A broad area of heavy, persistent rain will move northwards, reaching the extreme northeast of England later on Monday.
"Please be aware of the possibility of localised flooding and disruption to transport."
The heavy rain will fall throughout the day today and overnight, but will eventually peter out by late morning on Tuesday.
The wild weather is from the remnants of Storm Angus which battered the south of the UK on Sunday
