June in Sheffield was the warmest for four years - according to new weather figures.

The month’s mean temperature was 15.3 degrees, the highest since 2010.

But it was also a month of extremes, as the lowest temperature recorded was just 5.4 degrees, the lowest since 2011, and the highest temperature was 24.3 degrees, also the highest since 2011.

The Museums Sheffield Weston Park Weather Station, which compiles the statistics and shares them with Star readers, said it had been an ‘uneventful’ month.

Rainfall in June totalled 48.4mm, lower than the average of 67mm .

There was also 135.4 hours of sun recorded, down on the 177 hour average.
