A CHARITY football match set to take place on Sunday in aid of a lifelong Blades fan has been called off because of the rainy weather.
The special game between Sheffield United legends and television soap actors was organised to raise money for 45-year-old epilepsy suffer Karl Darby.
But the match has been cancelled after heavy rain and sleet left the pitch at the Sheffield FC Stadium waterlogged.
Karl’s family are raising money to build an external stair lift at their home on Cobnar Drive, Woodseats, so he can return home in time for Christmas.
Karl uses a wheelchair and has spent the past decade living in supported accommodation.
Sheffield United is planning an alternative event.
