ST Luke’s Hospice is taking a smart approach to travel after landing a year’s sponsorship deal with a Sheffield car dealership.

The 12-month agreement with Meadowhall eco-car specialist smart of Sheffield has seen the hospice receive a fully-branded car for a year.

Over the next year, it will be seen at fundraising events throughout the city and will also be used by members of the St Luke’s team.

One of its first jobs is helping to advertise the hospice’s Starlight Walk, set up to help the charity celebrate its 40th anniversary.

The Star has joined forces with St Luke’s to promote the event - a 5km walk through Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam and back - which takes place on May 21 and aims to raise £50,000 towards the costs of maintaining end of life care in Sheffield.

Hannah Jordan, corporate and trusts fundraising manager at the hospice, said: “We are delighted.

“For the next 12 months you’ll be seeing the St Luke’s logo throughout the city, which is great for our 40th anniversary year.

“And because this is an eco-friendly vehicle, it will be helping the hospice to reduce its carbon footprint.”
