We should pay for bin service

Have your say

I TOTALLY agree with Peter Smithers’ comments about the black bins being emptied every two weeks - and starting as soon as possible.

I think that most people put their bins out every week through habit, rather than necessity.

If the council reduced council tax and implemented a charge for every time our bins were emptied, I bet you would see very few people putting them out weekly.

The majority would be fortnightly and some would go to three weeks and more.

Petition support

thank you to all who signed our petition to save the 120 bus and to let them know we are still fighting for its return. We have consulted with our MP, local councillors and presented the petition to full council at the Town Hall. We have had meetings with Stagecoach, First and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport so we are not giving in.

Learn to spell

I OFTEN pass the Asda store they are building at Parson Cross and don’t mind the roadworks or diversions or even the workmen wandering across the road. What I really object to is the mis-spelling of Chaucer Road. Surely the powers that be in the highways department should know how to spell the names on the road signs.

Stan and Mary in bronze

why haven’t we got the beautiful floral tribute in front of the Town Hall of Mary and Stan this year?

In the past people often stopped to admire them and have photo taken with them.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could have a permanent tribute to these two figures, representing our cutlery and steel industry of Sheffield, possibly made out of bronze similar to the statues in Meadowhall?
