We need more like Reg Wilson

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY support David Green’s call for Reg Wilson to be recognised for his contribution to Sheffield Speedway (June 4).

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY support David Green’s call for Reg Wilson to be recognised for his contribution to Sheffield Speedway (June 4).

He served the club for many years and brought credit to Sheffield.

Even when he was transferred (against his wishes) to another club, he could be found on the terraces at Owlerton when the Tigers were riding. I remember speaking to him on one such occasion and being impressed that someone who was at the top of his sport could be so unassuming.

All sports could do with more people like him.

Propaganda

I’m getting used to Mick Gethin’s rubbish appearing in this paper. Once again Labour propaganda. I remember when Labour tried to close down Chapeltown swimming baths. It was only when the Lib Dems got in that we got much-needed investment.

Move to Whitby

After reading Jayne Grayson’s letter on Whitby, I can only suggest she packs her bags and moves there. I’m sure there are still some vacancies, perhaps sweeping the streets, instead of pulling down her own city.

It’s miles better

in a recent article regarding the banning of off-road vehicles from a path in the Peak District it was described as being a 3km stretch. We still use miles in this country. I shouldn’t have to use a calculator to be able to understand a news item.

Olympic torch

Having seen the photos of next year’s Olympic torch, I see that it is perfectly shaped for what should be its true use. Perhaps the Olympic Organising Committee will give us a demonstration.
