We can’t afford to lose libraries

Have your say

Following on from Doncaster’s decision to axe the majority of their public libraries, will Sheffield’s leadership do the same?

Locally, the building of the new SOAR-managed library at Buchanan Road means the death knell for Margetson and doubts must then be raised about the future of the Southey building which is just over the hill and currently only open part time.

Will this important local facility disappear? I seem to remember the Nazis burned books and it looks likes Cameron’s Big Society rhetoric carried out by the Yellow Tories are up to the same.

Books and libraries are symbols of civilised societies. We can’t afford to lose them for our children’s sake if not our own.
