Waxing lyrical for leg ordeal - PICTURES

A DOTING dad bared all to raise money for a charity supporting children with a genetic growth disorder which his little girl suffers.

Karl Stephens and pal Lloyd Buttle gritted their teeth to have their legs waxed at Director's Cut in Birley Moor Road, Frecheville.

They were raising money for the Turner Syndrome Society - a charity which supports children and their families living with the condition which causes growth problems.

Karl and partner Penny Jarvis' daughter Mackenzie, aged 14 months, has been diagnosed with the syndrome, but has already begun growth hormone treatment at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

It means the tiny youngster should grow to 5ft by the time she is an adult, and with IVF treatment she could even go on to have children.

The event at Director's Cut also offered visitors the chance to indulge in some cut price pampering - with all money raised going to the

charity. It was the idea of Lisa Kittens from the salon, who suggested it to Penny when she went in for a manicure.

People also bought raffle tickets and tucked into a buffet provided free by nearby Mary's Pantry.

In total the event raised more than 350.

Penny, from Hackenthorpe, said she was over the moon with the total, and added: "Everyone had a fantastic day, including Mackenzie - who I think knew it was about her and was enjoying the attention!"
