Wave of prosecutions as litterbugs face courts

LITTER fines were handed to 22 people following prosecutions by Doncaster Council last month.

In total, litterbugs faced fines and charges more than £6,500 after their cases were heard by Doncaster magistrates.

Coun Cynthia Ransome, cabinet member for communities, said: “This latest round of prosecutions sends a strong message that we will not tolerate environmental crime in Doncaster.”

Convicted of littering were: Elizabeth Hulme, of Christ Church Road; Joseph Brown of Austen Avenue, Balby; Carl Matthews of Cooper Street, Hyde Park; Donna Ashworth of Rose Avenue, Balby; Kerry Challenger of Senior Road, Hexthorpe; Gemma Coates of Woodlands Road, Woodlands; Robert Greer of Beckett Road, Wheatley; Tanya Hector of West End Terrace, West End Lane, Rossington; Julie Kitchen of Doles Crescent, Royston, Barnsley; Michelle Knaggs of York Road, Dunscroft; James Lumsden of Danesway, Scawthorpe; Stephen Massey of The Shoes, Low Road, Conisbrough; Kimberley Milner-George of Everingham Road, Cantley; Ben Rogers of Wynthorpe Road, Horbury, Wakefield; Christine Seiles of Chelmsford Drive, Wheatley; Andrew Sewell of Elm Crescent, Bentley; Ryan Sheldon of Norman Crescent, Rossington; Ian Siddons of Thrybergh Hall Road, Rawmarsh, Rotherham; Roxanne Willoughby of Denison Road, Hexthorpe; Tina Waugh of North Square, Edlington. Laura Rylance of Norman Crescent, Rossington, failed to comply with a notice prohibiting her from leaving kerbside waste.
