Water good day we had at Rother Valley - SLIDESHOW

IT was the perfect excuse to party party party when the great English summer finally arrived in Rotherham.

Revellers made the most of baking weekend weather to flock to Rother Valley Country Park for some fun in the sun.

There was a wealth of entertainment on offer for young and old at the two- day Party in the Park.

Sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and canoeing on the lake gave people the chance to cool down and there was also a chance to try scuba diving with the Frog Squad.

A medieval re-enactment group took party-goers back to more sedate times - before local live rock bands Worm and Committed got the crowds moshing.

Other attractions included clowns the Revaldo Brothers and Jonno, a fun fair, car show, children's entertainers and numerous sideshows.

Animals got in on the act in the dog agility display, while children enjoyed the bouncy castle, bungee trampoline and a snow board simulator.

Would-be Robin Hoods were on target with an archery challenge, while magician John Martin had more than one trick up his sleeve.

And if it all got a little hectic - then there was plenty of room to lie back, relax and soak up some rays.
