WATER customers in Yorkshire are the most satisfied in the UK when it comes to services, according to a watchdog report.
Research by independent body the Consumer Council for Water asked thousands of people for their views on water and sewerage services.
Findings show customer satisfaction levels in Yorkshire are the highest anywhere in the UK. A total of 81 per cent said they were satisfied they received value for money for their water and sewerage services against a national average of 71 per cent.
Even more than that thought charges were affordable and high praise was given to the water quality in the county.
Sue Glew, manager of Yorkshire Water’s customer services team, said: “We’re always striving to improve our service to customers while at the same time ensuring we offer value for money by keeping bills as low as possible.
“It’s great to see this hard work and investment reflected in the views of most of those surveyed, but we recognise that there’s more to be done.
“We’re spending £400 million over the next 12 months to make further improvements to our vast network.”
The study found 62pc of customers in Yorkshire had taken action to reduce water use, compared to 68pc nationally.
