Blades fans held a minute's applause in memory of Scott Marsden at Bramall Lane today as their side beat Charlton Athletic 2-1.

The 14-year-old, from Malin Bridge, fell ill during a fight for a national title in Leeds last weekend; the fight was stopped and Scott was taken to hospital, but could not be saved. He used to train at Marsden's All Styles kickboxing club at Hillsborough Arena in Hillsborough Park, which was run by his dad, Simon and uncle, Darren.

Scott, who attended Forge Valley School in Stannington, also played football for Hallam Juniors Football Club. Sheffield Wednesday displayed a message in memory of the fighter on the big screen at Hillsborough before and during their Championship match against Reading on Friday night. There was also a tribute in the match day programme.
