Warning over Lottery scam
DETECTIVES in South Yorkshire are warning against a Lottery scam operating across the country.
They also want to hear from victims in a bid to help track down those responsible.
The scam involves people receiving letters claiming they have won a large amount of cash - often hundreds of thousands of pounds.
It also asks 'winners' to ring a telephone number with their bank account details so the cash can be paid in.
Some of the letters, which have turned out to be fraudulent, have been from companies including Euromillion Lottery International, International Lottery Board and Loteria.
Anyone contacted is urged not to respond to the letters but to contact South Yorkshire Police's Economic Crime Unit instead on 0114 220 2020.
