A warning has been issued to Sheffield motorists after reports of dense fog in parts of the city which has cut visibility to as little as 100 metres along some roads.

The MET Office has issued a yellow weather warning due to fog affecting large patches of north-east England and the East Midlands.

Long Lane in Sheffield is said to be particularly badly affected.

A MET Office spokesman said the fog has been caused by a combination of clearing skies, light winds and very damp ground, and members of the public should be aware of the risk of travel disruption.
