Doncaster Council is reminding residents they have a responsibility to dispose of their waste properly while out and about over the summer.
Anyone found dropping litter or cigarette ends or allowing their dog to foul the pavement will be hit with a £75 fixed penalty notice.
The fine also applies to any drivers or passengers caught throwing litter out of car windows.
And under the council’s youth litter policy, parents of children who drop litter will have the option of paying the fine or having their child attend a litter pick.
Coun Cynthia Ransome, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “We are looking forward to a summer packed full of village fetes and fantastic events such as the Cusworth Country Fair and St Leger Festival week.
“It’s important that everyone takes their litter home to help keep our roadsides clean.”
Anyone who witnesses littering or fly-tipping can call the council on 01302 736 000.
