A community group has realised its ambition of fundraising for a new war memorial.
The Friends of Clifton Park in Rotherham has raised £30,000 towards the cost of a new memorial in the park.
Maintenance firm Willmott Dixon Partnerships gave the final £5,000 and tradesmen from the company will also dig the memorial’s foundations.
Group treasurer Elaine Humphries said: “People have been so kind throughout the appeal and this memorial will mean so much to Rotherham. It’s been a long haul.”
