CALLING all Simon Cowell wannabes out there - we want YOU to judge local talent in our online music videos competition.
All you have to do is watch all 18 short videos and then vote for your favourite - by text or post. Deadline is Friday, May 29, 2009, 10am.
Full details below.
Pop band Yo Yo Static and the Shockettes are on the up – they won first prize in Sheffield's 2 Weeks 2 Make It competition.
The challenge, combining the talents of local bands and film makers, was to produce music videos – from start to finish - in just two weeks.
The band were teamed up with film maker Richard Bolam's Electric Chaos, who produced quirky special effects and brought the band to life in the pages of a music magazine, as a video for their track I Am A.
Now we have all 18 videos for Star readers to make up their own minds and pick a Star Readers Award winner.
Watch all the others before making up your mind and casting your vote. You'll find all the videos on our video pages at www.thestar.co.uk/video
2 Weeks 2 Make It organiser Rob Speranza, of South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network was supported by Sheffield Independent Film, Screen Yorkshire, Sugarcane Creative, The Sensoria Festival of Film and Music, The Showroom Cinema and Peak Ales - who donated free beer as a prize for over-18s.
A 5 DVD of all 18 videos is now available from South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network - email info@syfn.org. Full details at www.syfn.org
The Star's competition is to showcase the fabulous creative work and the end result - all 18 videos. But we also have prizes on offer. See below for full details - including how to vote.
Prizes:
The Star Readers Winner band and filmmaker will be the focus of a special in paper and online feature – with the band invited to perform an exclusive session, to be hosted on our website. And with around three million hits a month, that's a huge showcase opportunity.
