SPICE up Christmas for one of our shortlisted finalists to help pop star Melanie C turn on the Sheffield lights this Sunday - YOU decide who gets the job.

The ex Spice Girl, formerly Sporty Spice, is now a mum and top solo act, with more than 12 million record sales.

She headlines the Real Radio stage, promoting new album The Sea, as part of the Sheffield Council festivities to turn on the Christmas lights in Barker’s Pool, on Sunday, at 5pm.

Also taking part will be ex-soap star Sam Clark - Ringo Brown in Neighbours - plus more acts and Real Radio presenters including Dixie and Gayle.

We asked readers to nominate somebody to help switch on the lights. Now vote for our finalists:

n Richard Bottomley, aged 22, of Sheffield, a lifelong Mel C superfan. He has a Spice Girls tattoo and still has a poster of them on his wall.

n Oliver Caley, nine, of Sheffield, who gave up his Sundays to sell British Legion poppies. His little brother has special needs which limits what the family do but he never complains, says mum Rebecca.

n Darren Caunce, 24, of Sheffield, who says turning on the lights would help put the past year of liver problems behind him. Melanie C’s solo music helped him through sad times.

n Claire Wilson, 37, of Ecclesfield, a dedicated nursery nurse, who works tirelessly for Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind. She also assists Sheffield and GB blind tenpin bowling teams, said her mum Marie Wilson.

Vote by this Friday, November 18, at 10am. One vote per person or email address.
