A HEATED meeting of a Sheffield tenants’ group saw the chairwoman and committee members lose a vote of no confidence.
Dozens of people attended the extraordinary general meeting of Firshill Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, held at Sheffield United’s training ground off Shirecliffe Road, to discuss the organisation’s future.
The TARA represents around 1,000 people who live on the estate, between Shirecliffe and Pitsmoor.
The vote of no confidence in the committee which is chaired by Maureen Scott was carried, with 33 in favour and seven against.
One resident who attended said: “People around the estate have been up in arms about the way the group has been run.”
Glyn Hitchen, assistant area manager at housing management company Sheffield Homes, said: “As appropriate the TARA committee held a special follow-up meeting to consider the best way forward and we welcome their decision to hold an Annual General Meeting in October.
“The AGM will be chaired independently and any interested residents will be able to put themselves forward for the elected positions.”
Mrs Scott declined to comment to The Star.
