Horse riders are now able to use the Trans Pennine Trail bridleway at Ardsley – thanks to work by Barnsley Council’s rights of way team and conservation volunteers.
Brambles and overgrown bushes had blocked the right of way for bridleway users until a day was spent clearing a pathway from the old brickworks to the bridge over Doncaster Road at the Stairfoot roundabout.
The conservation volunteers help hundreds of thousands of people each year to reclaim local green places.
Through their own environmental projects and network of 2,000 community groups across the UK, their aim is for people to take responsibility for their own local environments.
