A recruitment fair is to be held in Sheffield tomorrow to encourage people to get involved in volunteering.
More than 20 different organisations will be at The Circle Volunteer Centre, on Rockingham Lane in the city centre, from 10am to 3pm, including Heeley Development Trust, Shelter, St Luke’s Hospice, Age UK and Cavendish Cancer Care. The event will be an opportunity to find out about the organisations which take on volunteers and discover how you can help.
Paul Harvey, of the Volunteer Centre, said: “Thousands of people volunteer in Sheffield and for many it is a life-changing experience. However, many people aren’t aware of the variety of roles that you can do, and how positive volunteering can be for them on a personal level.
“In Sheffield there are more than 300 different roles currently being advertised on Sheffield Volunteer Centre’s website, ranging from traditional roles such as charity shops, driving a minibus or advice work, to less obvious roles such as bid writing, dog walking or project management.
“Most roles only ask for a few hours a week commitment.”
