DEDICATED volunteer Ralph Knutt has been honoured for his work to keep a Sheffield community clean and tidy.

Ralph, of Chapeltown, is a member of Chapeltown in Bloom and goes out and about most days picking up litter – dressed in a collar and tie and high-visibility vest.

He received the chairman’s award at a meeting of Ecclesfield Parish Council in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community.

John Housley, chairman of Chapeltown in Bloom, said: “Most people know Ralph as the litter picker who wears a collar and tie. Irene, his wife of more than 50 years and also a member of Chapeltown in Bloom, says he goes out in the morning and she will not see him until he has been all around the centre, hours later.”
