RESIDENTS are urged to help keep roads clear of snow if it comes this winter.
People in Barnsley are invited to join a Good Neighbour scheme to target areas of the borough not covered by the council’s snow plan – the streets and estates not on primary and secondary gritting routes and which do not have grit bins.
Good Neighbours already help people across the borough and one team member is the co-ordinator for support such as shovels, high visibility clothing and grit which the council can provide.
The council offers simple training and advice for volunteers when they sign up to the scheme.
