A CHARITY is appealing for volunteers to help behind the scenes at the Sheffield Half Marathon.
Sheffield-based charity Support Dogs, which trains dogs to assist disabled people, needs volunteers to collect donations, organise drinks, act as marshals and carry out many other jobs on May 27.
Rita Howson, Support Dogs director of operations, said: “We are always looking for people who are happy to attend events with collecting tins to give our funds a boost.
“But for an event like this there are hosts of other jobs that also need carrying out.
“You might be asked to help at one of the watering, feeding or sponging stations, act as a marshal along the route, or help take the timing chips off the runners’ shoes – there are a million things to be done.”
To volunteer call Jane Foster on 0114 261 7800.
