Vintage wedding dress auctioned
nibs vintagebridal pieces up for auction at sheffield Antiques Auctions
Brides embracing vintage style can bid for the real deal - a stunning 1920s silk wedding dress is to go under the hammer.
The gown, almost 100 years old (pictured left), and featuring embroidery hand-worked by the bride herself, is one of the lots at Sheffield Auction Gallery’s Quarterly Antique Auctions next month.
The auction is to feature an extensive range of vintage fashions and accessories, including the home-made silk wedding dress and a 1950 wedding veil, accompanied by a photograph of the wedding at which it was worn.
A collection of fine hand-made lace, men’s evening scarves and collar studs will also be among the lots.
Says a spokesman for the auction house: “Interest in home sewing and traditional crafts is currently on the increase and many collectors would love to own these original items.”
