Village struck by 'civil war'
TREETON will be taken over by hundreds of Cavaliers and Roundheads today - after a Civil War battle re-enacment group set up camp in the Rotherham village.
The renowned 'Sealed Knot' organisation is spending the entire weekend in Treeton, after turning fields off Washfield Lane into a living history camp to demonstrate what life was like during the 17th century English Civil War.
Activities planned for today and tomorrow include parades, staged battles, displays and puppet shows.
The main battle re-enactments are planned for 3pm today and 2.30pm tomorrow, and are each due to last around an hour.
