Village opens up to its heritage

THE village of Staveley celebrates its history as part of this weekend’s Heritage Open Days event.

Staveley Hall will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm for an exhibition of photos by local historian Dave Matthews, including ones of Markham Pit, and there will be free tours of the Hall at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.

The Stables at Staveley Hall will also be open for an art display by Staveley Arts Group, including items for sale.

The Regal Building on Church Street and St John the Baptist Church and tower will be open, and historic walking tours of the town centre will be available. Call 01246 473132 for full details of events.
