Generous villagers who have raised money for ex-servicemen and women have been praised by their local councillors.
People in Barnburgh and Harlington decided this year to donate half the proceeds from the summer village fete to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The fete was attended by over 750 visitors and raised £365 for the RBL.
David Packham, chairman of the parish council, said: “Our event is a real slice of British country life held every year.
“In yesteryear and today many have served to protect us and everything we hold dear. It is our privilege to do our bit by giving something back to such a worthy cause.”
The cheque was handed over to the Legion’s Sprotbrough branch at an event attended by councillors Jonathan Wood and Cynthia Ransome.
“I am delighted to see people raising money for such a good cause. The fete was a fantastic occasion. Thanks to all who took part,” he said.
