The PCC election, on Thursday, October 30, was sparked by the resignation of Shaun Wright after the headline hitting Rotherham child sex abuse scandal.

That and many other issues about policing in South Yorkshire were discussed by our panel of the four candidates, David Allen (English Democrats), The Rev Dr Alan Billings (Labour), Jack Clarkson (UKIP) and Ian Walker (Conservative).

Sheffield Hallam University’s criminologist Craig Paterson gave his expert knowledge and the debate was chaired by The Star Editor, James Mitchinson.

The hour long event was filmed in front of a live audience at Sheffield Hallam University’s Pennine Lecture suite.

It sparked lots of social network discussions and opinions using our hashtage #stardebate.

You can stil get involved in the debate, using #stardebate, on our Star Facebook site at www.facebook.com/sheffieldstar and on Twitter @SheffieldStar.
