A man who confronted staff and threw stools over the counter at a Sheffield takeaway after being refused free food has apologised for his actions.

The man who is being sought by police after the bust-up at Imran’s on the Wicker, came into the store and said sorry to the owner.

Dramatic footage on The Star web site shows a customer start to become irate with staff when he knocked tills off the counter.

He then lunges over the counter to strike a blow before trying to gain access to the staff area to confront shocked workers - when that fails, stools were flung at the staff.

The man then fled the scene before police arrived.

Imran Rafique, owner of Imran’s takeaway on the Wicker, said: “He came into the shop and spoke to me on Tuesday afternoon before we opened - the staff were not there.

“He apologised for what he did on the night and although it was an extreme incident, I’ve accepted the apology.”

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said that officer were called to the scene at 1.45am on Saturday, April 18 following reports of a customer causing damage.

An investigation is under way and officers are carrying out a number of enquires.

When The Star contacted South Yorkshire Police, no arrests had been made.
