The trial of the man accused of murdering Sheffield organist Alan Greaves begins today at Sheffield Crown Court.
Alan Foster, 21, was charged with murder following Mr Greave’s death in December 2012. Mr Greaves, a married father-of-four, was attacked as he made his way to play the organ at St Saviour’s Church in Mortomley Lane on Christmas Eve. He died in hospital three days later.
His widow Maureen Greaves, of High Green, arrived at the courthouse at 9.30am this morning.
At her husband’s funeral, earlier this year, Mrs Greaves told mourners she was: ‘determined to turn aside from hatred, vengeance, unforgiveness and retaliation.’
