Veteran MP David Blunkett has thanked the people of Sheffield as ‘without them, I wouldn’t have been able to do any of the things I have done’.
The political heavyweight spoke about why he had decided to stand down at the next election after a career spanning 45 years.
In this Star video, he said he wanted to quit while he could give ‘100 per cent’ and that he would ‘miss it greatly’.
“It’s the people in the community that I shall miss most of all, even the rough times, even the rough tongues.
“People in Sheffield can give you the rough edge of their tongue but they will put their arm around you and give you a hug and tell you you are one of them.”
