Family and friends today bade a sad farewell to a father of two shot dead on a Sheffield estate.

The body of 23-year-old Grant Bodell was taken into City Road Cemetery by a horse drawn carriage as relatives and friends walked in front.

Almost 400 people attended the funeral.

Grant, of Windy House Lane, Manor, was found with gunshot wounds on wasteland off nearby Queen Mary Road in the early hours of Saturday, June 21.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance but could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

His funeral was held this afternoon at the City Road Crematorium Chapel, followed by burial at City Road Cemetery at 1.45pm.

Grant, a father-of-two, has been described by his family as a loving son, caring dad, cherished brother and uncle’.

Detectives investigating his murder arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder shorty after the shooting and released him on bail pending further inquiries.

Nobody has been charged.
