VIDEO: One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is better than Abramovic

Waiting for Video...

HE has had a great year in his day job.

And now pop star Louis Tomlinson has put the icing on the cake with his first success as a millionaire football club owner!

Louis, one fifth of chart-storming group One Direction, can celebrate after his team, Three Horseshoes, won promotion in their Doncaster league.

Louis was named as the club’s owner last year, and brought them new team strips and footballs as a result.

He also took the club to the Keepmoat Stadium, where they played a charity match in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, lining up against a Doncaster Rovers team.

Now he has seen the rewards with his team, which plays in the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League, winning a match against Rose Hill Press 3-2 at the weekend to secure at least second place the league’s Division One.

It means they are promoted to the competition’s Championship division.

Club secretary and team goalkeeper at Branton-based Three Horseshoes, Kevin Atkinson, said: “We texted Louis to let him know that we were promoted, and he texted back to say he was delighted and well done.

“We’ve got to talk to him about next year and see if he still wants to be involved.

“He is usually away with One Direction, but he is always wanting to know our results. He has a busy life, obviously.

“As far as millionaire chairmen are concerned, I reckon he’s probably better than Roman Abramovic - because he’s not always sacking his managers! I think our jobs at the club are much more secure than anyone’s at Chelsea.

“We will certainly be inviting him to the team’s promotion celebrations and we’d love him to be there, but obviously that will depend on his plans with One Direction.

“It has been a great season and he got us a match at the Keepmoat Stadium.”

Louis himself has played for the team once in the league - proving a surprise for the opposition, Leger Lions, at Cantley Park. Leger Lions won 4-1.

But Kevin said the opposition treated their pin-up player well and did not try to kick him.

He said: “We rang them up after the game to compliment them on the way they played the game. Louis was just like one of the lads - but with a nicer haircut and a glamorous girlfriend on the touchline!””
