Hundreds of people attended the funeral this afternoon of a Sheffield teenager tragically killed in a road accident.

Josh Tyler, aged 16, of Hepworth Drive, died last month after his moped was in collision with a car on Mansfield Road, Swallownest, just seconds from his home.

Swallownest and Aston came to a standstill at around 3pm today as Josh’s funeral took place at All Saints Church.

Residents left their homes to pay their respects to Josh as the funeral cortege passed.

More than a dozen 4x4 vehicles and more than 20 motorbikes took part in the cortege.

An extra room was opened in the church to accommodate the many mourners, who also stood in the foyer and entrance to the church.

The service heard many tributes from Josh’s friends.

His parents Julie and Ray said: “Josh, we will love you forever and always. You are our special boy.”

Josh’s school, Aston Academy, closed its doors at 2pm so fellow pupils and staff could attend the funeral.
